Description

The Bitter Orange Spritz is a wonderfully simple and refreshing variation on the classic Italian spritz culture. Instead of a liqueur like Aperol or Campari, this version uses a high-quality bitter orange soda directly. This soda already brings the perfect balance of the sweetness of ripe oranges and a pleasant, tart bitterness. Topped up with sparkling Prosecco, it creates a light, uncomplicated, and incredibly quaffable aperitif that is less sweet than many of its relatives.

Preparation

  1. Fill a large wine glass to the brim with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the Prosecco into the glass.
  3. Slowly top up with the chilled bitter orange soda.
  4. Stir gently once.
  5. Garnish with a large, juicy orange slice and serve immediately.
