Description
The Pornstar Martini, also known as the Maverick Martini or Passion Fruit Martini, is a modern classic that has taken the cocktail world by storm. It was invented in 2002 by bartender Douglas Ankrah in London. The name is provocative but is meant to underscore the confident and stylish nature of the drink. The combination of sweet vanilla, exotic passion fruit, and a hint of sourness from the lime is irresistible. The special feature is the "sidecar" of Prosecco or sparkling wine served separately. The idea is to alternately sip the cocktail and take a sip of the sparkling wine to cleanse the palate and enhance the flavor experience.
Preparation
- Pre-chill a coupe or martini glass with ice. Have a small sparkling wine glass ready for the Prosecco.
- Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
- Add vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, passion fruit purée, and lime juice to the shaker.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Discard the ice from the cocktail glass.
- Strain the drink through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
- Float half a fresh passion fruit on top of the foam.
- Pour the Prosecco into the separate glass and serve both together.
