Description
The Sidecar is a classic sour cocktail that likely originated during World War I in either London or Paris. It belongs to the "New Orleans Sours" family and is known for its perfect balance between the rich depth of Cognac, the sweet orange notes of Cointreau, and the bright acidity of lemon. A well-made Sidecar is elegant, potent, and wonderfully balanced. The optional sugar rim on the glass adds an extra touch of sweetness with every sip.
Preparation
- Optional: Moisten the rim of a chilled coupe glass with a lemon slice and dip it in fine sugar to create a sugar rim.
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the prepared glass.
- Garnish with an orange peel.
