Description
The Zombie is one of the most famous and infamous Tiki cocktails, invented in the 1930s by Donn Beach in Hollywood. It lives up to its name: it is incredibly potent, combining three different types of rum, including high-proof overproof rum. According to legend, Donn Beach would only serve his guests a maximum of two Zombies per night. Despite its strength, the drink is incredibly multi-layered and delicious due to a complex mix of fruit juices, spice syrups, and a hint of anise. A masterpiece of Tiki culture.
Preparation
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
- Add about 6 oz (1 cup) of crushed ice.
- Blend on high for no more than 5 seconds.
- Pour the contents into a large Tiki glass or a highball glass.
- Top up with more crushed ice if necessary.
- Garnish with a large, fresh mint sprig.
