Description

The Siesta is a modern classic created in 2006 by bartender Katie Stipe in New York. It is often described as a kind of "tequila version" of the Hemingway Daiquiri. The drink combines the earthy notes of tequila with the bitter complexity of Campari and the bright, zesty acidity of fresh grapefruit and lime juice. A little simple syrup ensures the perfect balance. The result is an incredibly refreshing, complex, and perfectly balanced cocktail.

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill a coupe glass with ice.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  5. Express a grapefruit peel over the drink and add it as a garnish.
